How to make puff pastry?

Cooking is fun and interesting, but it can be very time consuming if you don’t have much talent or experience. Before you try complicated recipes, you need to go for something simple, yet impressive, like puff pastry. You will be surprised to see how easy it is to make it and how tasty it can be.

What do you need?

10 ounces of unsalted butter (cold, not room temperature)

1/2 cup of cold water, a pinch of salt and

2 cups of flour

Cut the butter into small pieces and mix it with the flour in the food processor. This might take some effort depending on what kind of device you have, but the secret is to add small amounts of butter and wait until it is incorporated before adding more. When all the butter is incorporated into the flour, add the water in which you previously dissolved the salt. If you feel that the dough is soft enough, you can add a few spoons of water, not all of it.

Place the dough in plastic wrap, give it the desired shape and keep it in the refrigerator for one hour or so. When you take it out, it will be ready to go into the oven and you can roll it out gently and spread your choice of filling. Then fold it over and moisten the edges to make a good seal.

All the preparation should not take more than a few minutes, and while you wait for it to be cooled, you can prepare a mixture that you add as a filling. For something sweet you can choose fruits and cream cheese, and for a salty snack you can add mini sausages or vegetables. You and your family will enjoy a light and healthy snack or dessert.
