The Macrobiotic Diet

This diet eating plan consists of, cereals, vegetables and whole grains. It is designed to change the way you eat and the way you live! The Macrobiotic diet has some elements of Buddhism, along with the eating plan that removes meats, fatty food and dairy products from your feeding. The 50% of all calories come from the whole grains, and the other 50% come from vegetables and soups.

Potatoes, asparagus, avocados and tomatoes are forbidden! Interesting fact of this diet is the way of of preparing the food. It is considered as sacred, so you should prepare the food using pots and pans made from wood, glass or stainless steel. It is also recommended to prepare your food in a peaceful environment. It is even recommended not to use electricity!

The benefits of this diet are: you will eat a lot of fruits and vegetables, which is good and healthy and by eating this, you reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease and some types of cancers. On the other side, you will need more nutrient, restricting some healthy food (avocado and potatoes) is not a very good idea and it is not very good for weight loss.

Using this diet, you will have a recommended daily intake of: protein and more than recommended intake of carbohydrates. But, your daily intake of fat, fiber, potassium, calcium, vitamins B12 and D, will be under the government recommendation! According to many researches, this is a serious drawback of the Macrobiotic diet! Many experts don’t recommend using it. Although, it is not very useful, many people like it because it has the interesting way of preparing your meals.
